Fourteen — the sonnet and rhythm

The sonnet — one of the great forms of lyric poetry — consists of exactly 14 lines. Shakespeare wrote 154 sonnets, Petrarch created the canonical Italian sonnet. 14 lines contain a whole universe of meanings.

Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14 as a holiday for lovers. The tradition is linked to medieval beliefs that birds choose their mates on February 14. Over a billion cards are exchanged on this day annually.
