Twenty-four hours in a day

Earth completes one full rotation on its axis in ~23 hours 56 minutes (sidereal day). The division of the day into 24 hours was inherited from ancient Egyptians who divided day and night into 12 parts each.

'24' (2001–2010) was a television revolution: each episode covered exactly one hour of a 24-hour crisis. Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer is one of the iconic images of the 2000s.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the oldest and most prestigious endurance race in the world, held since 1923. Cars and drivers must last continuously for 24 hours.
