The turning year: Stalingrad, Kursk, LSD

On 2 February 1943, Paulus's 6th Army surrendered. The largest battle in human history cost over 2 million lives and permanently broke the Wehrmacht's strategic initiative.

July 1943, Prokhorovka. The largest tank battle in history. After Kursk, Germany permanently lost the strategic initiative on the Eastern Front.

28 November – 1 December 1943: Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin met in person for the first time. In Tehran they agreed on the second front and the post-war world order.

On 16 April 1943, Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann accidentally discovered the psychedelic properties of lysergic acid. The discovery upended psychiatry and gave birth to the 1960s counterculture.

1943 is divisible only by 1 and itself. Like 1997, it is a prime year. Mathematical indivisibility mirrors historical — a year impossible to reduce to ordinary components.
