In 1917, mathematician Hardy visited the dying Ramanujan in hospital, arriving in a taxi numbered 1729, remarking it seemed dull. Ramanujan instantly replied: 'No! It is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two cubes in two ways: 1³+12³ = 9³+10³ = 1729'.

Srinivasa Ramanujan was a self-taught mathematician from India who discovered thousands of formulas with almost no formal education. He claimed the formulas came to him in dreams, sent by the goddess Namagiri. His notebooks contain theorems that mathematicians are still deciphering today.
