Nine — the number of completion

9 is the last single-digit number, a symbol of cycle completion. Unique property: 9 multiplied by any number always yields a digit sum divisible by 9 (9×7=63, 6+3=9). In Buddhism, nine is associated with the highest level of enlightenment.

In Chinese tradition, 9 (九, jiǔ) sounds like the word 'eternal'. The Chinese emperor wore robes with nine dragons, the Forbidden City has 9,999 rooms, symbolizing power and eternity.

Pluto was the ninth planet of the Solar System until 2006, when the IAU reclassified it as a dwarf planet. Today there is debate about the existence of a hypothetical 'Planet 9' on the edge of the system.
