Ten — the basis of counting

Humans count in decimal because we have ten fingers. The number 10 symbolizes completeness and a new beginning — the first two-digit number. In Pythagoreanism, the decad (10) was considered the perfect number.

The Ten Commandments are the foundation of the monotheistic ethics of Judaism and Christianity, given to Moses on Mount Sinai. They became the basis of the Western legal and moral tradition.

The residence of the British Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street is one of the most recognizable addresses in the world. The building has served as the official residence since 1735.
