Man on the Moon

Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface on July 20, 1969: 'One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.' The Apollo 11 mission ended the Space Race and became the greatest technological achievement of the 20th century.

Woodstock Festival (August 15–18, 1969) — the culmination of the hippie era. 400,000 people, Hendrix, Joplin, The Who. Three days of peace and music became the symbol of an entire generation and the counterculture of the 1960s.

On October 29, 1969, the first message was sent over ARPANET — the precursor to the internet. Only 'lo' from the word 'login' was transmitted before the system crashed. This became the first word in the history of the network.
