Three thousand — the far future

The animated series Futurama (1999–2023) is set in the year 3000. Characters fly on spaceships, robots live among humans, and New York became New New York. The series was created by Matt Groening.

The song 'Year 3000' by British band Busted (2002), covered by Jonas Brothers (2007), paints a humorous picture of the far future. It became one of the signature pop hits of the early 2000s.

3000 years ago was approximately 1000 BC — the era of David and Solomon in Israel, the flourishing of Phoenicia, and the start of Greek archaic period. Three millennia span from Rome's founding to the present day.
